A text-free version of the first panel is up on my Patreon page for Patrons. :) It's old art from months ago (remember, I'd drawn a good chunk of this comic months ago and am restarting it) but I still like it.
Back then, though, the dialogue was different, which meant different word bubble placement. Trying to make the new dialogue work with art that was specifically designed for a different dialogue was NOT easy. The word bubbles play such a huge role in creating a visual flow.
Your scenery art is really beautiful. I like how well the watercolor-like textures mix with the rough inkbrush style of your word bubbles, too.
Thank you! Once I put normal borders for the panels and bubbles just to see what it'd look like, and it looked totally different, in a bad way. The art is so sketchy, so it looks incomplete next to simple, clean borders.
Hehe. Yeah. I try to mix it up every now and then. ;)
I think it was worth all the pain I went through trying to figure out the bubble placement :D
Beautiful BEAUTIFUL page <333 cannot say enough good things about your art K :D
And I like how they're sitting in the last panel with 'em peeping toms XD so cute!
Thanks ^^ The peeping kids weren't in the original version, but I figured they'd be too curious to not be here.
I love this page and the page previous so much. :D Everything is very fluid and the storytelling has been really good so far. It's exciting to finally learn the 'what' behind Heart of Keol! :)
Thank you! It's exciting for me to finally show/tell these things, and at the same time, embarrassing that it took so many pages to get here. But better now than later :3
Just wanted to say the art in your comic is absolutely beautiful! Wonderful layouts and colors, as well as very expressive faces and environments. Great work!
You definitely have my subscription!
