NO TOUCHY THE POKEY, ETHAN.
The touchy the pokey panel was intended to just fill the space for Danbi's dialog, but it's come to my attention that it's unnecessarily dramatic and implies certain expectations (e.g. he's going to touch it and it'll explode!!!11) that shouldn't be there. I'll eventually change it so it doesn't steal too much attention. But for now, we keep moving forward.
Ooooooo pretty thorns!!! *.*
This page is gorgeous. As usual.
I think the touching panel is fine as is. I didn't think Ethan was going to touch it and explode... I thought he was just looking closely at the thorns.
It's not a big problem on its own, but there's been a long series of similar issues since the beginning of the comic. It's given a epic exciting action adventure vibe to... a worrying number of people. And that keeps leading those readers to disappointments and fizzle-outs. This is not an adventure comic; it's an introspective story that happens to have some adventure in it...
IKR? The emotions and those pew pew guns are the two pillars of this story! I don't know why I never get any comments on the pew pews!
Wow. This is so cool! Danbi magic is awesome. :D
Definitely no pokey. :P
Someone needs to put up a No Pokey Allowed sign for poor Ethan.
I do get a little bit of a sense of impending danger from the thorn, but coupled with Danbi's sort of nonchalant attitude, it's not overwhelming. If you were to change it, you might just show the finger actually touching the thorn (on its non-pokey side) to emphasize that Ethan's just curious and no, nothing bad happens.
He'll do fine. The ability to make things grow has a built-in-aptitude for the ability to make things wither and die.
Well, I wasn't too far off on my theory. He might not be Poison Ivy over here, but he can still protect himself. And Ethan probably could kick much butt if the occasion calls for it.
