Two updates today! This is update 1 of 2.
Keen readers may notice that Angdu says "sleepyhead" instead of "shleepyhead." I have decided to remove the accent from the native shpeakers... err... speakers. Why? Because while these characters will always have a very thick accent (전라도 사투리) in my head, it's just impossible to get it across in the English version. The perfect, seemingly accent-free English doesn't quite capture how they talk in Korean, but neither did the fake accent. I am in the process of removing it from older pages, which might take me a couple of weeks.
Ethan's broken speech is here to stay, however -- for as long as it takes for him to get fluent. That too works much better in the original Korean version, but it works well enough in English, even if some people find it annoying (sorry!).
YES IT IS! AND IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOUUUU <3333
I just posted the next page BTW!
XD I love how he's BUFF but not super ripped. Got a teeny tiny bit of pudge on him.
Haha. Hilarious. I guess he might as well be naked anyway then. ;P
I'm in the process of redoing some of my comic pages. It's gonna take me a while. You're blessed that you only have to alter the speech. I have to redo almost everything. -_-
I feel your pain! I've actually been there... What you're seeing is a reboot; I got up to chapter 19 with the previous version (only released in Korean) then I decided to reboot, because I had written myself into a corner.
(hope this comment is welcome more than 8 months later)
I was wondering about the "accent", well, I thought that Danbi had a speech impediment. Now that I have an explanation and see that my assumption was wrong, I'm happy about your decision to drop that accent.
Ethan is struggling with words, that is quite obvious. It makes sense to me because he is not fluent in Korean and, even though I misunderstood the purpose of the accent, I had the imagination that the Korean that was spoken by the native people was a bit different from earth's Korean. So keeping that makes sense to me.
So, thank you very much for doing this change :)
You're more than welcome to comment on older scenes! :D And I'm glad you like the change. It'll never be as good as the canon Korean, but this is still a significant improvement.
