If you think about it, that line of dialog is really just another example of how Ethan's perspective different from that of the humans in Keol. As we know, the latter has a lot of misconceptions about the Rencho (I forget the proper spelling, so I'll just use the Koreanized one) when it comes to their sexual habits and traits. Interestingly, these misconceptions don't come from the fact that they can turn into gigantic ferocious cats, but rather from a difference in values and customs. The humans of Keol obviously realize Rencho and other kinds of nonhumans are sapient, but seem to generally view them as...uncivilized. And they are very hesitant to question this view.
Then you have Ethan, who also had a misconception about Rencho, but his misconception was based solely on appearances. Since he's aware of what a male cat's genitals looks like, he assumes Rencho must be built the same way. Being the outsider that he is, he doesn't have years of conditioning to make him set on this view, so when he discovers otherwise, it's not a big deal for him. More importantly than that, though, is the realization that if the humans of Keol were to pair the idea of Rencho=potential rapist with Rencho genitals=cat genitals, I'm fairly certain it would result in some pretty terrifying mental images for them. But for Ethan, the idea doesn't even cross his mind that it would be unsettling or even awkward, since not only is he ignorant of the stereotypes prevalent in Keol, but was raised in a culture that handles the subject of sex altogether differently than they seem to here.

And yes, I'm aware that I'm analyzing all of this based on three lines of unspoken dialog about one man observing another man's equipment and I am suitably ashamed.

I loved this comment so much that I took and saved a screenshot of it. Should I also be ashamed? :'D
